It
is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of John Frederick
Anderson, age 77, of Saskatoon on Saturday, March 24, 2012.
Jack was born near Bradwell on November 22, 1934 at the family
farm and received his schooling in various locations throughout Saskatchewan. He
spent 35 years working with the Federal Government in Radio Communications and
his job promotions took him across Western Canada, finally ending his career as
a District Manager in Victoria, B.C. He and Mary Ann returned to Saskatchewan in
1993 and enjoyed their retirement years travelling extensively.
Jack was proud to be an active member of the Masonic Fraternity,
Saskatoon Shrine Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a man of his word
and could always be counted on. Jack was honest, caring, and gave generously of
his time. He had a great sense of humor, was very practical and could fix just
about anything.
Jack was dearly loved by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann;
daughter, Janice (Terry); son, Rob (Lynn); and his five precious grandchildren,
Adam, Drew, Todd, Lane, and Metaya. He was a devoted family man who never missed
a `gathering of the clan'. He touched our lives in countless ways and his love
was a gift we will cherish forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shiners' Hospital for
Children (1021 Saskatchewan Cres. W, Saskatoon, S7M 5J6), or the Heart and
Stroke Foundation (279-3rd Ave. N, Saskatoon, S7K 2H8) would be greatly
appreciated. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 29th, 2012 at
2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th street, first right past
Briargate Rd.) Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Family
and friends may send online condolences from the website www.hillcrestmemorial.ca .
Arrangements entrusted to Megan Kasper. May the road rise to meet you, May the
wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rain
fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the
palm of His hand.
Very sad news. I had been thinking of Jack just a
few days ago. I wondered how he was doing.
I understood Jack had moved back to the Prairies but had not heard from him in
years. I will remember him fondly - he was responsible and always ready to step
in and make things happen. Vancouver Island was Jack's territory - no doubt.

Jack hired me out of the Edmonton office, to
work in Victoria in early 1993, just before he retired. He had already packed
up, and moved back to Saskatoon ( to be closer to family ) by the time I
arrived back in Victoria, in April of that year. That was 19 years ago now.

Indeed sad news. I remember Jack well. First
met him at weather school in Winnipeg October 1959. If memory serves me
correctly he was from Bigger Sask. We met each other many times after in
Ottawa on various courses over the years and again many times until
retirement.
Attached is the obituary from today's Saskatoon Star Phoenix. Jack passed away
on March 24. He was still living in Saskatoon. I used to run into him from time
to time, but had not heard from him for the last year or two. He was our
District Director for a short time in the summer of 1992 (I think that was the
year). He was a great guy to work for.

I was at Radio College with
Jack and met him many times when we were in DOC. We have remained in touch by
email ever since. He was a good friend.
