Obituary  -  Avis de décès

Gerald "Jerry" WINTERMEYER

1932 - 2015

Gerald "Jerry" Wintermeyer August 30, 1932 to July 3, 2015 Following an unexpected event, Jerry is free of his dementia and pain. Despite the challenges, he found peace in painting, sculpting and making model air planes, all with his Air Force number hand painted on them. Survived by wife Bev, (and Lawrence, Darryl and Heather) as well as Sister Dolly (and Bob), he will be remembered for his many talents and unique sense of humour and a jack-of-all trades. There will be a celebration of life in the fall, for more information please email heatwin1@gmail.com Thank you to the staff at the Perley for all that you do!

I was saddened to read of Jerry`s death. In 1960 we both arrived in Ottawa, he a few days before me, to work at the Aircraft Radio Workshop in Uplands. After a year or so we were moved to the cantilever hangar, which is still visible as you drive into Ottawa Airport. Our job was to maintain the radio equipment on the flight checking and VIP Department of Transport aircraft. We were part of a close-knit team and Jerry was known for his skill at touch football. Later, around 1970, I would see Jerry again when he worked at the long-gone test labs on Clyde Avenue. About a decade ago I had an appointment with an eye specialist by the name of Wintermeyer. She told me that Jerry was an uncle, who she had never met, but was to meet for the first time in a few days. Sadly I had lost touch with Jerry. Please accept our condolences.
